Too tired to write much today... had another great day on Al Khor Island with our students.  Packing for my trip to Oman for a conference over the weekend.  Leaving tomorrow night and will be gone for 3 nights.  I'm going to miss my little Mayooshi sooooo much!  OUT...

Had a long day today.  I took about 50 kids to Al Khor Island.  An island location about an hour's drive from school.  They explored mangrove forests and mudflats, did some orienteering and picked up trash.  It was a very cold day for Qatar and I was freezing in my sweatshirt and sweatpants.  Some crazy kids actually went swimming for a bit and then had to walk around soaking wet.  Crazy! 

Just put Maya to bed... last night we went to the mall for dinner and it was really cold then too.  Maya wore a little coat that was sooo cute.  I thought it was still way to big for her but it fit perfectly!

So yesterday was a nice day.  In the morning I went out with two friends and co-planners of our ASD Faculty Amazing Race which is coming in two weeks.  We drove around to check out all the locations and everything seems to be set.
We enjoyed a BBQ lunch with Jawad's parents and brother and Maya had a great time playing.  It was a little chilly out today (only 17 degrees) but we had some sheesha sitting on the front patio.  Maya had a ball playing with her friends in the playground just outside.

Today is Maya and mamas chill day.  She sleeping beside me on the couch right now.  We'll do some lunch and then grocery shopping when she wakes up and then maybe a trip to the souq when Jawad's done work.

I really also need to work on sorting out Maya's photos so I can get some more pages done in her scrapbook!  I'm really falling behind.  There are a couple ladies I work with who love to scrapbook so I'm thinking to have a scrapbooking party sometime soon.  It's fun to get together to work on it to get ideas from other people and share all the different supplies people have.

Getting started...

So I was just telling Jawad how we should do something more exciting this Thursday night instead of sitting in front of the TV... and voila, now I'm starting a blog.  I feel like I'm jumping on the bandwagon.  Coming up with the name was tricky and we definately had some laughs at our lame attempts (the happy birds... after angry birds) (shark attack... actually that's a drink I love and so is the name I chose so I guess it worked).

So my little happy fortune - Maya!  She's so cute and doing so much now.  She really loves to play.  She copies so much we do.  She'll put her finger to her lips and say shhhh.  She'll kiss any photo or toy she has when you ask her but she won't kiss people unless we pretend we're sleeping!  She loves to walk Oreo and knows to take a plastic bag with us.  Today Oreo stopped to pee and Maya passed me the plastic bag.  I gave it back to her and told her not yet.  Oreo stopped to poop and she gave me the bag again!  She has to be the one to hold the leash.  So cute!
